Stellenbosch Night Shelter

Shelter Routine

Stellenbosch Night ShelterOn admission, residents have a shower and wash their clothes. Supper, which is served at 19:00, consists of soup and bread.

Soup is provided by volunteers, but often the community donates food, which enables us to vary the menu. After supper, the residents help to clean and tidy the kitchen and some may play games, watch TV or read. The Shelter is quiet by 21:00.
The residents rise early in the morning and after a breakfast of bread and coffee, they clean the Shelter and leave for the day at 7:00. Residents also have regular appointments with our community worker, who evaluates their needs and circumstances with a view to reuniting them with their families or returning them to society, finding employment and organising medical care. Our community worker is also responsible for job creation and skills development.
