SEASON

Summer

November-March

Bring out the tanning lotion and umbrella. During this season, Stellenbosch can record temperatures in the mid to upper 30° Celcius, and this coupled to high humidity and clear skies brings about a mediteranian climate. The beaches are about 20-30km from Stellenbosch, and usually packed during the holiday season.

Autumn

March-June

Welcome to the windy season. Although a rainy day might occur, the sunny days usually bring 20-something temperatures with winds gusting up to 60km/h. Nighttime temperatures are in the lower teens and Stellenbosch is littered with beautiful brown leaves.

Winter

June-August

Winter is the rainy season in the Cape and its Winelands. Daytime temperatures stay well below 20°C and cold fronts which bring rain from the south-east can last up to 3 days.
Minimum temperatures hover above freezing point with occasional mist or fog in the mornings. Snow on the mountain tops is not uncommon.

Spring

August-November

Springtime in Stellenbosch means daytime temperatures reach the upper 20's (°C) with occasional rain still occuring. The town turns positively green with the temperatures picking up towards November.
