SEASON

Summer

November-March

Bring out the tanning lotion and umbrella. During this season, Stellenbosch can record temperatures in the mid to upper 30 Celcius, and this coupled to high humidity and clear skies brings about a mediteranian climate. The beaches are about 20-30km from Stellenbosch, and usually packed during the holiday season.

Autumn

March-June

Welcome to the windy season. Although a rainy day might occur, the sunny days usually bring 20-something temperatures with winds gusting up to 60km/h. Nighttime temperatures are in the lower teens and Stellenbosch is littered with beautiful brown leaves.

Winter

June-August

Winter is the rainy season in the Cape and its Winelands. Daytime temperatures stay well below 20C and cold fronts which bring rain from the south-east can last up to 3 days.
Minimum temperatures hover above freezing point with occasional mist or fog in the mornings. Snow on the mountain tops is not uncommon.

Spring

August-November

Springtime in Stellenbosch means daytime temperatures reach the upper 20's (C) with occasional rain still occuring. The town turns positively green with the temperatures picking up towards November.
