Considering this, we feel it is not financially viable for a smaller business or individual to enjoy having their own website.

CODEX dds and Adept ISP aim to change this by offering a system called “subwebs” within their established and successful website in, about and for Stellenbosch, www.stellenbosch.co.za (hereinafter referred to as “Stellenbosch.Co.Za").

STELLENBOSCH.CO.ZA

Stellenbosch.Co.Za is a joint venture by CODEX digital design studio (hereinafter referred to as “CODEX dds”) and Adept Internet Service Provider (hereinafter referred to as “Adept ISP”) for the Stellenbosch community and aims to serve all visitors or interested parties to and from the town with current information like news, events, entertainment and general social activities.

The website’s look and feel is currently in it’s third generation, every re-design encompassed more speed, better navigation and more user-friendliness. Graphics are kept to a minimum, as to speed up the surfing experience. Drastic reductions in graphics mean that almost every page in the website opens within the dreaded 7 seconds, the time it takes for an Internet user to get bored.

In its current state, Stellenbosch.Co.Za features a highly sophisticated and thought-through style-sheet, a set standard for all text and images, to achieve a consistent, uniform and pleasing look and feel. Extensive research complimented the style-sheet with advanced button behaviours and also initiated the use of templates (another set standard) and includes. This combination speeds up frequent information changes.

Stellenbosch.Co.Za focuses primarily on useful information, with clean and uncluttered layout, uniformity and transparency also enjoying high priority.

The website employs a permanent Webmaster, someone who is tending to the website 10 hours a day, 5 days a week, with 2 to 3 hours over weekends. Information is changed constantly within the website, daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly, depending on the subject matter.

We also provide many email addresses for contacting us, and these include Accommodation, Advertising, Business Listing, Complaints, Events, News, Enquiries, Suggestions and Transport – all @stellenbosch.co.za. These emails find their way to our staff, who answer every single email instantaneously in a friendly and personal manner.

We have also created online booking requests and gladly help tourists and visitors to find appropriate accommodation within a selection of preset pricing brackets.

In an effort to keep residents and visitors informed at all times, Stellenbosch.Co.Za spares no expense in sourcing the most recent information. The local university campus radio station, MFM 92.6 (hereinafter referred to as “MFM”) provides the website with it’s daily, local news bulletin. The news bulletin usually makes its way to our offices at around 6PM, the same time it is being read out live over the air!

Pop-up window options on the front page include South African news, 2 weather reports, and the separate MFM news items with a link to the entire MFM news database and a search function for the last 15 months of news. Our Webmaster also provides “finger weather” which basically entails sticking a finger out the window and judging the weather accordingly! More fun is in store for visitors with our random joke generator on the front page, which provides comic relief from the occasional tragic, or violent news report.

SUB WEBS

A sub web is a directory within a website. It is a website in itself. A website is created and placed within Stellenbosch.Co.Za and thus becomes a sub web of Stellenbosch.Co.Za.

If users have forgotten the sub web address, it can be located with the single click of a button. The user may enter Stellenbosch.Co.Za and look to the right “Links” menu: We list all our sub webs on every single page!
